Rev’d Carl (Rector) & Lindsay Smith

Carl and Lindsay have been leading the benefice since January 2017, having served Carl’s curacy in Burgess Hill. Carl was trained at Trinity College, Bristol, and ordained in 2013.

Lindsay is employed as the Family Outreach Worker, leading our toddler group ministry and the Handcross Community Pantry

Together, Carl and Lindsay have 4 children

Jon Rotheray (Lay Reader)

Jon has been a licensed Lay Reader since 2010. He is married to Chris and they have four grown up children. Jon has a love of preaching and studying God’s word.

Phil & Barbara Hawksley

Phil and Barbara joined the team in 2019. Having served as local missionaries for much of their married life, they now support Carl & Linz in leading the missional and community work that occurs out of All Saints Church, Handcross, as missional community leaders.

Barbara Butfoy (Hospitality)

Barbara joined the team in 2019. Barbara has a great deal of care for our local community and works to make All Saints a place where people feel welcome and accepted as they are. As part of this Barbara runs monthly soup lunches, craft afternoons, as well as helping to provide refreshments at the Community Pantry, and many other events that happen across the benefice

Liz Cox (Mentoring Co-ordinator)

Liz joined the team in 2020. For many years Liz has been working as part of a team of people seeking to help people grow in their understanding of what it means to be disciples of Jesus, through conferences and courses that she leads and speaks at internationally. She will be working with Carl and Linz to train people in mentoring as well as proving mentoring sessions across the churches, for people who need them.

Anna Sesemann (St Mary’s Church Warden)

Anna has been Church warden since 2019. She has been a member of St Mary’s for over 30 years and for much of that time has been involved in teaching and leading the Sunday youth groups.

Helen Arnold (St Mark’s Church Warden)

Helen has been church warden since 2018, having been an active member of St Mark’s Church and school for many years. As well as being church warden, Helen serves as governor to the school and is also the benefice safeguarding officer.

Lizzie Reynolds (St Mark’s Church Warden)

Lizzie has been Church warden since 2018. Lizzie is an active part of the Staplefield community and supports many local events. She is married to Rob and together they have 4 children
