Pastoral Scheme

As a Parish we are in contact with many elderly people in our villages and are aware of many needs that they may have, in particular loneliness.  We have a pastoral scheme for those linked to our Mustard Seed lunches.  Anyone who attends these has the opportunity to be part of this scheme whereby they are given a person that they can contact if they would like a visit, may need a lift to a hospital appointment or to ask for prayer.  The Pastoral contact keeps in contact with the people on their list at least once a month either by phoning or visiting.

For more information on either serving within the Pastoral team or if you are an elderly resident of our parish looking to be a part of this scheme then please contact the church offices on 01444 400221.

Events

Spotlight Service

The “Spotlight Service” is on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 10.30AM at All Saints Church in Handcross. It is a quiet and reflective service lasting about three-quarters of an hour. There is a talk, sometimes following a theme, sometimes a “one-off” and a few traditional hymns. You are invited to stay afterwards for coffee or tea and biscuits and the chance to get to know each other a little better. Lifts can be arranged if necessary.

Even though most of the members are retired, life can still be very busy and we aim to draw aside, to let God be the centre of all that we do. Do come along if you haven’t been before, we’d love to welcome you.

Mustard Seed Lunches

These lunches have been running successfully over the past decade at All Saints Church, Handcross. We have around 100 members, who each receive two invitations to attend lunches during the autumn and spring with between 35 and 40 at each lunch. The Christmas Lunch is the highlight of the year, and all members are invited.

If you are of mature age, enjoy good food in a relaxed, warm atmosphere and are willing to be welcomed by an exceptionally friendly group of people, who will let you join in at your own pace, then we look forward to meeting you.

Service at Belle Vue Nursing Home, Warninglid

At 11.00AM on the third Wednesday of every month, there is a short service for the elderly and the staff at this nursing home in Warninglid with hymns, prayers and a short talk. Anyone is welcome to attend.
